Lexifour
Lexifour is an independent vocabulary game created and operated by Iddo Sadeh. It combines a short daily challenge with practice for people who enjoy learning words.
What you can play
The Daily Challenge has five multiple-choice questions, from familiar words to less common ones. Everyone can play and review their answers without an account. Your next challenge arrives at local midnight.
With a free account, Learn offers 20 questions a day, using definitions or fill-in-the-blank examples. Pro adds unlimited Learn, saved vocabulary and history, more practice controls, unlimited hints and ad-free access. See our billing policy for pricing and cancellation details.
Where the words come from
Our question data draws on Princeton WordNet and Open English WordNet. Lexifour adapts definitions into clues and adds choices and explanations. Attribution and license notices are included with the archive. Word-origin stories link to their reference sources.
Software and AI assist with drafting and automated checks. These checks look at clues, choices, examples and difficulty, but they do not guarantee that every question is correct. We use reports and gameplay statistics to identify questions that need another look.
Reading the Journal
The Journal preserves past Daily Challenges after their dates have ended worldwide. It records what players saw, rather than silently rewriting old rounds. A question leaving today's catalog does not by itself mean it was wrong. We distinguish recorded quality issues from versions that have not passed current checks, and link to a later published version when one is available.
Weekly pages share word stories from sent newsletter editions, never subscribers' personal activity or word lists. Newsletter preparation and publication are automated under the owner's standing approval; that does not mean each edition has been individually reviewed by a person.
